Novice, Mite, Squirt, Peewee, Bantam and Midget Youth Hockey

Which program is right for you?

As a youth hockey organization, we strive to create a fun hockey experience while optimizing individual player development.

For 6U-14U, our regular season runs from September through March, while our 18U program runs from September through November with an option for a full year program. 6u-14u has two weekly practices and one to two games per weekend, depending on the GSL schedule. 18u has one weekly practice and 1-2 games per weekend.

While our regular weekly GSL games are local, each team has the option to travel for  tournaments and independent games throughout the season, with most teams opting for one local tournament and one away. The organization provides each team with $1000 in funds to aid with travel. The difference is usually fundraised by each team individually.

In order to provide our players with the needed attention for individual growth in the sport, each team is assigned at least two coaches and our rosters are kept to smaller numbers.  Our teams are based on an independant evaluator's scores during our evasluations in Match. Team managers are also assigned to each team to ensure any parent's questions or needs concerning the season can easily be answered and addressed.

We are a USA Hockey affiliated program and offer programs according to the set age classification system detailed in the table on the side of this page. If an older child is new to skating but has a passion to play hockey, our dedicated coaches will help ease your child into the sport according to their level within their age bracket.  However, if parent and child feel more comfortable starting in an age group younger than their current age due to their skating level, USA Hockey does allow a waiver down option for new skaters. Likewise, a more experienced skater can waiver up an age group if the PVL board of directors approves along with USA Hockey. Please visit USA Hockey's website or our document library under resources for more information on waivers.

Every March, evaluations consisting of different skill drills are held to ensure players are placed on teams  with similar skill level (if numbers allow for multiple teams). An indpedant evlauator is utilized to place players in these groups. This can help to increase player development, build confidence and encourage a fun environment. Please see our Resources Tab/Documents for more information on the evaluation process.

At PVL, we look forward to providing your child with an enriching and fun, close knit environment where they can grow and nurture their love of hockey.
